Rising juniors and seniors studying a STEM major at GW are eligible to apply for the Noyce Scholar Program. Noyce Scholars work closely with faculty and classroom mentors to focus on preparing for their work as teachers in high-need secondary schools, post-graduation from GW. Scholarships up to $20,000 per year will be available for students completing the program. Upon acceptance into the GW Noyce program, students must sign a contract agreeing to work in a high-need school district within the Washington DC area or another approved district. For each year of funding, students must teach two years in a high-need school district.
What is expected of Noyce Scholars?
- Applicants must show an interest in teaching through STEM education activities.
- Applicants must be on track with the required curriculum of their STEM major.
- Applicants are expected to attend Noyce events and meetings.
- Noyce Scholars must complete requirements for licensure.
- Noyce Scholars must teach in a high-needs school district for two years for every year of scholarship funding received.
- Noyce Scholars are expected to cultivate their passion for teaching through tutoring, mentorship, and volunteering throughout their undergraduate career.
