2020 Scholarship Recipients

Alexa Miller-Smith is a fourth-year student from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  She is majoring in economics and political science with a minor in STEM teaching.  Next year Alexa will be teaching middle school math in Miami-Dade County Public Schools.  On campus Alexa is on the varsity rowing team, in GW's community service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, and works for the Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service as the team leader of a tutoring program for DC public school students.  In her free time Alexa enjoys reading, finding new spots to eat in DC, and going to the beach.

Nathan Yohn is a junior from Milford, Massachusetts. He is majoring in real estate with minors in mathematics and STEM teaching. He is pursuing his teaching certificate in middle school mathematics through the GW Teach program. While in DC, he enjoys working at Mathnasium where he tutors students in mathematics, and while he is at home, he enjoys working at an assisted living facility where he runs activities. When not in class or at work, he can be found doing puzzles or binging the latest show on Netflix.
